This is THE Cat Toy to Have
There are literally hundreds of cat toys out there with more coming out constantly. Which ones are right for your cat? That’s a great question. One category of cat toys are laser toys. These started out from the simple laser pen/pointer that people would use for presentations at work.
I bet somewhere along the line in the past a business person was probably practicing at home for their very important presentation for the next day at work. Just as they get to the most critical part of the presentation using their laser pointer their cat comes flying in from nowhere and attacks it! Now I don’t know how the presentation went the next day, but I can tell you things were probably pretty crazy and hopefully fun at home that night.
Why do cats love lasers so much? I think it’s because they think its’s a bug. Cats go bananas trying to hunt bugs when those critters have the misfortune of getting into the house. A laser toy is a must have for your furbaby’s toy box.
There are a bunch of laser toys out there, but lucky for you I already know which one is the best choice. I know that might sound a bit cocky, but we have been using laser toys of all types for several years and this one is far and away the best out there.
The cat laser toy I want to show you is the one we have had for years. It’s been so popular we have purchased 4 of them over that time. Nearly every single cat we have had has enjoyed this Cooway Laser Toy.
This cat-shaped laser toy has a number of great features. You can set it up on the stand which looks like a hi-tech robot looking cat, or you can use the suction cup or mount in on a wall. I have to be honest we have had so much fun with just the stand that is all we have used. I really like the stand because of it’s flexibility. I can turn the base or the laser in any direction. For example we can start by having the toy on the table angled downward so it can shoot the beam out on the floor. It will go in circles, but it stops, changes direction, and can adjust the speed somewhat. So it’s not just going around in one circle pattern the whole time. Now by just adjusting the angle I can have the laser go up on the wall at whatever height I choose. Have you ever seen your cat go nuts watching a bug up on the wall. Now it’s a whole new game!
Another option is to have the laser go up an over some furniture like a chair, sofa or bed. You can combine the laser and a box for a great ambush scenario for even more fun. The options are only limited by your imagination.
The reason we have so many of them is because they are so popular that some of the shy cats can be intimidated by the playful actions of some of the other more outgoing cats. The shy one’s end up just sitting nearby and watching. We got a couple more of the laser toys so the shy cats could play solo. WOW! Not only do the shy timid cats really get into the laser toy play, but they actually start to act more confident. This new confidence has often continued for long after the play is over. Who knew? Never seen that before.
It’s USB rechargeable. Charging takes about three hours for max power and the laser will stay on for about three hours. However, this baby is motion activated! So when kitty gets tired and moves on, then the device turns off until kitty comes back.
There are two speeds: normal and fast. Normal is pretty good, but fast can be fun for change of pace. Speaking of change of pace our cats really get extra excited when the laser momentarily stops. This is what a bug would do is freeze trying to evade detection. It stops right before it changes direction to go the opposite way. There is some variable to the pattern as it starts one way and then goes back the other. It does this a few times before settling in on one continuous circle for a little while before changing again. By just changing the angle you can have the pattern be more of a circle or much more elongated like an ellipse. You can also use this toy at the top of the stairs for even more fun.
We use this toy every night. We have certain cats that are actually waiting and looking for the laser show to start in their favorite spots each night. Even the cats that are not in a playful mood still enjoy watching their playmates having fun.
This Coolway laser toy is great for cats that are overweight. Oliver lost about 4 lbs and he doesn’t even use it every night. It’s great exercise, very interactive, and helps cats with too much energy or cats who might get into trouble. You have probably heard that a good way to have a better behaved dog is to walk it daily. This is very similar for cats. This is a great option for cat owners who are gone all day for work or have a cat that is too active at night. The beauty of this toy is YOU don’t have to be involved other than charging, setting it up and pushing the button. So when you can’t be there or don’t have time to play with your cat this option works very well. It’s also fun to watch them play with it and to try a bunch of different options as mentioned before. You can even hold it in your hand and move it around a room, hallway, or stairs too. Hands on or hands off you get to decide.
Now I’m not just hyping this up. I am sharing with you all that we have seen and experienced with this marvel of a cat toy. We did have one of the toys battery fail after being used daily for over four years. The USB charging cords can be a little delicate. You want to keep them in a safe place and don’t really stretch them out to the maximum length when in use. Doing this does seem to shorten the lifespan of the cord. We have not had any problems outside of these two issues. We have had all of the toys for two-to-three years and use them almost daily.
I can’t recommend the Cooway P 80 Smart Pet Toy enough. It has really changed our household dynamics with the cats. It can even work for dogs.
