Why Did We Name Her Squish?

Oh my little Squish. What a delight she is. She is my little princess and we really have formed a tight bond over the last 5 years. She is all over this blog because she is so cute, adorable, funny, and kooky.

One of Squish’s favorite spots is in the pantry

We named her Squish initially because she was so small. She was and still is much smaller than her sister Sissy. Soon we noticed her interest in small, tight, and dark places. These were places to hide, hang, and nap. Her choices were often so small and dark that NO other cat would dare consider or compete for this highly coveted new discovery. Since she is also very smart I think that she knows the low rate of competition for certain spots. So she uses her secret Squish ability to snag the very best spots. After seeing her love for cramming into tight spaces her name was forever cemented in as one of the best name choices ever.

Yes, street cats often sleep with one eye open
No other cat could even fit here. Such a Happy girl!

Squish can make it very difficult to find her when needed. Usually, she will come out eventually when I’m calling her, but not always. She is still a cat after all! I will often try to keep track of her favorite spaces so that I can keep tabs on her and also go see her when I have time. This also helps with tracking her down when needed.

Most cats lay ON the blanket. Squish is not most cats.
She is laying UNDER a cat bed with a pillow case on it.

It’s not uncommon to see Squish buried under beds, pillows, blankets, boxes, towels. A lump in our house is usually not just a lump. We often have to put a box or laundry basket near the “lump” so the dogs don’t accidently lay on her.

Too far in for most, but Squish is in box heaven

These are just a few examples of Squish and her antics. So much fun and so much love. I am so lucky.
